   I live in Alabama near a storm drain and have had a serious mosquito problem. Every time I stepped outside, I was getting eaten alive. I know DynaTrap has mixed reviews, but I was desperate and decided to try the DT1050-AZSR with the Atrakta lure packet. I set it up yesterday and let it run continuously (as recommended). After just 24 hours, I checked it and was shocked — it had already caught a large number of mosquitoes. There are a few moths and other bugs, but it’s mostly mosquitoes. I’d estimate at least 40, possibly more. So far, I’m impressed. I’ll update after a week, but if you’re struggling with mosquitoes like I was, this is definitely worth trying.

   I bought this DynaTrap version instead of the Mosquito Magnet trap version due to cost. This pack is $17.99 and lasts 60 days so the cost per day is .29. The Mosquito Magnet version is a 3 pack for $29.99 and lasts 16 days each and the cost per day is .62. To get it to fit, I folded the packet in to thirds and inserted it in to the opening another reviewer suggested. Don’t insert it in to the tube portion that has the suction in that leads to the trap/net. I included a picture for reference. Does this packet work better than the Mosquito Magnet version? Don’t know yet. Unless this doesn’t work at all, I don’t plan on trying the other most expensive version. PSA: Put on gloves before touching this packet. It stinks and the smell get stuck on your fingers. Had to wash them at least three times with hand soap to get the smell off. I don’t recommend wandering around in your yard after touching this as there could be residual smells on you that mosquito’s smell that you can’t! Head indoors after touching!

   FYI: I live 3 football fields from the marsh on the South Carolina coast. I have the 1-acre DynaTrap Mosquito Magnet that I purchased in March 2021. I do purchase this attractant to use with the DynaTrap. The package says to replace the attractant every 60 days. When you first open the packet…………OH MY GOSH…….it smells like someone who has not bathed for a year! I keep track of when I replace thes attractant so I can be sure to replace them every 60 days. I just replaced the attractant on 8/15/2024. I noticed the mosquitos have been worse in the last few days. We are attacked when we go outside! So, I checked the smell of the attractant I had installed. Guess what? No smell, at least that I could smell. So I went ahead and installed the next one. I gave this product 2 stars since it is very smelly when it is first installed but the product does not last for 2 months as the package states. Unfortunately, I have not found an alternative, so I will most likely purchase this again and just replace it every two weeks. BUT, in the meantime, I will be searching for an alternative to this product.

   This smelled SOOOOOO BAD!! Pretty sure it’s what they use to train cadaver dogs. Don’t know if it works because it just smelled lip the place, so while it may be a mosquito repellent, it’s also a human repellent.

    My machine is new ran for 2 days and caught about 1/3 mosquitoes and 2/3 moths and other insects. Added the pack and in one night the amount of mosquitoes is a significant amount more than the two days it ran without the bait. I have had the bait for one day we will see how well it continues to work however the cost is rather expensive for what it is!

    The description says it covers an entire acre but it did not or, maybe I don’t know what “covers an entire acre” actually means. I had the trap set up for weeks and I was still plagued by flying insects. (Can’t help but feel that the machine was actually bringing in a lot more bugs.) A lot of bugs did meet their end but a lot did not. The unit is actually well constructed however be mindful when emptying it there are quite a few live bugs that will escape.

    This summer, mosquitos around my house would cover my son in dozens of bites in record time. Desperation kicked in and I purchased a bug zapper. Without a mosquito lure of some sort though, I would just call it a moth-killing machine. I was having a lot of trouble finding a lure in stock that is recommended for the most popular mosquito species in my area (Asian Tiger mosquito and the Southern House mosquito). This lure WORKS. I compared it’s effectiveness to a swampy bucket of water that mosquitos can’t resist by having the bug zapper on with no lure. I would say more mosquitos ended up in my zapper when I used the Atrakta. I added the bucket and the bug zapper together to increase my catch numbers. I made sure it was very secure and wouldn’t fall in, don’t worry. Overall I would say it works! Smells super potent. P.s. don’t commit to a bug zapper if you don’t like zapping noises day-and -night and having to clean out dead bugs.
